Welcome to Thick As Blood. This is a website where people can read information about blood clots, coagulation problems and having too much iron (hemochromatosis). The webmaster is
, a practicing hematologist-oncologist in northern California.
The creation of this website was inspired by my observation of the increasing importance of the recognition and treatment of various blood conditions, especially blood clotting, to the health of many people that I have treated over the years.
Blood clots and coagulation problems are very significant causes of illness and complications in our modern health care system. Understanding what they are, what causes them, how they can be avoided or treated and what late breaking developments are occurring can go a long way to coping with the problem.
